The Wright School District offers a varied program of musical activities for students grades 3 through 6 which is taught by a music specialist. All third graders are introduced to the recorder at the class level with individual attention paid to every aspect of musical performance: stature, sound production, conducting techniques and a varied repertoire designed to introduce the beginning notation needed to insure a simple mastery in the joy of performing. Fourth, fifth and sixth graders are welcome in the beginning or advanced band. Instruments offered are: alto saxophone, clarinet, flute, percussion, trumpet, and trombone. Band repertoire includes classical to folk and rock.
Singers are encouraged to join their school chorus for a weekly meeting which includes vocal exercises to broaden and strengthen their voices as well as a varied repertoire of world music designed to improve the voice and bring enjoyment to everyone, performer and audience alike. In 2006 the combined Wright District Chorus performed on the Schools Plus Telethon .
