TITLE ONE (TITLE 1) FEDERAL READING PROGRAM

Title One (Title 1) is a program funded by the federal government to provide extra support and assistance to students who are not meeting state standards. Title 1 resources are provided to schools qualifying for supplemental funding because they provide instruction to a higher than average percentage of students who come from economically disadvantaged families.

The Title 1 Reading Program provides support materials and assistance to those students not meeting state-established standards in reading and language arts. Students meet in small groups with a highly qualified instructor to work on the basic skills necessary to close the gap and achieve the same high standards of performance as those students working at grade level.

Students in the Title 1 Reading Program work on specific skills that include, but are not limited to: basic decoding, fluency, comprehension strategies and writing. Our District's Title 1 program is exemplary; our dedicated and specially trained staff works effectively to provide our students with the skills they need to become successful readers.

For more information about the District's Title 1 program, please contact the District Superintendent at 707-542-0550 extension 102.
