5 p.m. on August 12, 2020, for anyone other than the incumbent officer. WESD would like to assist you in any way possible in meeting all of your filing deadlines.
It is the responsibility of the district to collect the cost of Statements of Qualifications from the candidates after the fact. However, candidates must present a receipt from our district office at the time your Statement of Qualifications is filed with the Registrar of Voters office. The payment range is determined by whether the candidate is requesting a statement be printed in English only or in English & Spanish. The candidate should write a check “not to exceed” the highest in the range. Please refer to the Statements of Qualifications Costs Payment Procedure document listed on our website for additional information. Candidates must secure a receipt from our district office as proof of payment before a statement will be accepted for filing by our office. When payment is required, checks and refunds are handled by our district office.
Due to the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order, our district office is currently closed; however, you can call Janice Webb, WESD Administrative Assistant, at (707) 542-0550 x114, and she will make an appointment to meet you at the WESD district office (4385 Price Avenue, Santa Rosa) to accept your payment for the statement and issue a receipt (which must be presented at the time the Statement of Qualifications is filed with the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters office.
After the close of nominations, when the exact number of candidates purchasing statements in our jurisdiction have been determined, the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters’ Accounting Department will contact WESD with the exact cost of the statement. WESD will then bill the candidates for the cost of their Statement of Qualifications that will appear in the Sonoma County Voter Registration Guide.
Statements of Qualifications must be filed at the same time all other nomination documents are filed in the office of the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters. Statements may be withdrawn but not changed during the nomination period or extended nomination period if applicable.
